WALL·E

700 years into the future, and they still haven't given robots opposable thumbs.
Picture the scene:
It was stupid o’clock on a Sunday morning. Vampires across the country had just gone for a pre-bedtime slash and hung themselves upside-down in a darkened room before daylight fried them. Birds had still got toothpaste all around their beaks and 60,776,237 residents of the UK were still being visited by the Sandman.
And what was the 60,776,238th person doing at this horrifically early hour?
He was going to the cinema to see WALL-E…
Quite how I made it to the cinema at half past ten on a Sunday morning is beyond me. Surely that warrants a Victoria Cross or something? Anyway, was this act of supreme heroism worthwhile? Well, kinda.
I reckon WALL-E is probably Pixar’s best looking film ever. It’s not the funniest, and I don’t think anyone in the cinema (even the thousands of kids) needed a new pair of sides when the credits rolled. Yeah, it does have a few laugh out loud bits, and a lot of grin-worthy moments, but the lack of dialogue throughout the film kinda puts the kibosh on it being wee-inducingly-hilarious.

We've all done that, right?
What is funny though is how WALL-E and EVE only say about 10 different lines between them in the whole film, yet they still both give off more emotion and depth of character than Tom Hanks did in The Da Vinci Code and Hayden Christensen does in, well, let’s face it - anything.
You’ve got to hand it to Pixar there for making the (soppy) storyline work really well. It’s really quite sweet and if a big, hard-as-nails, not-to-be-messed-with tough guy like me says that, then it must be sweet. Don’t worry, I’m not turning into a big Jessie or anything and I promise I’ll go fire up some smut straight after publishing this… A normal Sunday night then, eh.
Ta-daaa! 8/10.

I couldn’t agree more chris….a truely great cinematic masterpiece & it’s a cartoon too!!!
you’re right too the characters are really sweet…..ahh
one thing you forgot though was the subtle learning message of the film….that all Americans are fat & lazy!
