Unintelligent life briefed on unintelligent life?
Posted in General

When you look up at the night sky, what do you see?
Just a distant bunch of tiny twinkling lights or a mind bogglingly enormous, sprawling universe that’s possibly teeming with life?
Perhaps we’ll soon know…?

I don’t think the fact that they have yet to discover evidence of life on another planet makes the story any less interesting. The fact that we now have evidence of both water and soil capable of supporting life on another planet in our solar system is massive as it is. It means that we have doubled the number of planets in our little corner of the universe that could be capable of supporting life. Apply this to all the BILLIONS of planets in the universe and the change of there really being alien life of one sort or another out there goes through the roof. I think it is only a matter of time now until we discover that we are not alone in the universe, or maybe even in our own little bit of it.

There probably is other life out there somewhere, but if it’s not on Mars, then where else in our solar system would it be? From what I can make out, Titan and Europa would be the next likely targets, but I’m starting to think it’s looking unlikely that we’ll have sufficient technology (and luck) to explore those fully in my lifetime. As for finding life outside of our solar system in my lifetime - not a chance - unless it visits us first. :-(
