The Illusionist

I could’ve pooed out a hedgehog and found it more enjoyable than sitting through The Good Shepherd the other day.

Was ‘The Illusionist’ a better experience?

The Illusionist

Well frankly yes – but it wasn’t going to be hard.

You don’t see that many films about magic, then all of a sudden we get The Illusionist, The Prestige and Magicians all turn up within months of each other. Like buses aren’t they, eh. Tcha!

The Illusionist is basically the story of, well derrr, an Illusionist called Eisenheim (Ed Norton) who meets his childhood sweetheart again, only to find that she’s shacked up with the nasty fella from ‘A Knight’s Tale’.

Ed Norton is great but puts on quite an odd voice throughout which is slightly distracting. Jessica Biel has a great pair of, err, screen presences and “Pig Vomit” is also in it.

The whole thing flows along quite nicely and holds your attention, but the storyline lacks a little final punch. Basically, it’s not quite in the same class as The Prestige, but still quite enjoyable all the same. 8/10.
