Level 42 Retroglide Tour: Cambridge 15/10/06

With one thing and another, I’ve not had time to post about the Cambridge Level 42 gig on their current tour. It was actually a couple of weeks ago now, but we had seats on the front row, in the very centre, so it was bound to be a good evening…
We skipped the support act (Kenny Thomas) because we’d never heard of him and frankly weren’t overly bothered about seeing him. Whilst we were sitting in the bar, my bro spotted Anthony Costa from Blue. He was very excited and I reckon a teensy bit starstruck, bless him. I’m sure he’ll deny it all though. Apparently, Nik Kershaw and Helen Chamberlain (schwing!) were there too. Yeah, that’s right. Get me mingling with the “stars”, eh.
Some of the new album tracks didn’t exactly go down a storm. There were a few funny ‘technical glitches’ and the security staff tried to make everyone sit down (but failed - ha!). Also, from where we were, it was nearly impossible to hear “The Lindup”. But, the night was still great on the whole. Mark King is one of the World’s best bassists, so it was amazing to see him play that close. There’s a video here from the actual gig… you can even make out my arm if you look closely! Oooh.
I did get a few half decent pics, although most didn’t turn out too well. First up, a couple of pics of the King himself (is that middle finger intentional?!?):
…and some of Mike Lindup. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a picture of his black trousers, white socks and black shoes combo! Niiiice.
Gary Husband gave me the evil eye when I took his picture. Oops.
…and last but not least…Sean Freeman the sax dude and Mark’s brother, Nathan King.
Yay! Basingstoke next…
