Mayday! We've been hit by a dubya em dee!
“We can’t find the WMD’s, man!”
“I’m tellin’ ya, we’ve looked god-damn everywhere for those WMD’s!”
“I searched the toilet factory for the WMD’s, I dug a big hole to look for the WMD’s, I even went to a swimming pool to try and find the WMD’s. and you know what? I still couldn’t find any WMD’s. There are just no WMD’s!”
That’s pretty much Maaaatt Daaaamon’s entire script in Green Zone. Nearly every sentence seems to involve him saying “dubya-em-dees” in a monotone voice. Now I know that’s what the film’s about, but I swear they must’ve said “WMD’s” about 400 times in two hours.
Anyway.
Cast your mind back to 2003. The yanks and brits have just rolled into Iraq trying to secure an oil supply with the honourable mission of liberating Iraqi people from Saddam’s evil reign of tyranny. Everyone’s quite worried that warmonger George Dubya Bush was just hell-bent on finishing off what his father started Iraqi weapons of mass destruction threaten peace in the region. It was a time of the infamous dodgy dossier, very bad intelligence and general world policing.
Looking to justify the war, there’s huge pressure from those in power to find those illusive WMD’s. So everyone’s out hunting high and low for them. The trouble is, not even Matt Damon can lay his hands on them, so there must be a reason why nobody can find those pesky… WMD’s.
Politics. Government conspiracy. Tough talking. People running around shooting other people (who are often on the same side). You get the idea. Green Zone isn’t a bad film by any means, but lets face it – it’s no Bourne.
7/10.
Oh, and the huge amounts of shaky-cam might, you know, make you feel sick. Ahem…

It sure did. I was so glad I had the next day off work as I still felt crap the next day.
I must say that for me a big part of the film was wondering how much of it was true?
I agree – I couldn’t help but think how much Governement politics & internal fighting between departments there must actually be when in War with America??
I just wonder how much money & not to mention innocent lives (often friendlies) that must cost…..
Wow – bit heavy there, as for the Team America gif file……superb!!
