Fast & Furious

Fast & Furious - Michelle Rodriguez

Unfortunately you don't get to see Michelle Rodriguez's muffler.

I can’t deny that I didn’t get what I expected when I went to see Fast & Furious last week. Cars. Chases. Scantily clad women. Dodgy loud music. All of those were available in buckets.

Something that I wasn’t prepared for however was the heavyweight acting from Vin Diesel – who undeniably banked his best performance since the Academy Award winning ‘The Pacifier‘. In fact, during Fast & Furious we were pretty much treated to his entire acting repetoire, namely: Gravelly voiced whilst quietly angry, a hint of Gravelly voiced whilst slightly moody-looking and my personal favourite: Gravelly voiced whilst looking a bit forlorn but also somewhat vengeful.

Fortunately, Vin was able to portray all of the above complex emotions simply by using just his patented multi-purpose Gravelly voiced whilst simply looking like Vin Diesel face. Now if only he could perfect Blue Steel and he’ll have cracked this whole acting malarky.

Umm, so the film… Cars and trucks. Vin’s girlfriend carks it. Fast driving around to find bad guy who killed her. Vin meets his old mate Brian again. Mexican border crossing with some other people whilst driving fast. That touching forlorn moment. Bit of loud music and scantily clad totty. Brian gives Vin’s sister his own turbo Diesel injection up the exhaust and untightens his own lug nuts. Bit more fast driving with loud music whilst crossing border again. And it’s a wrap.

With a forgetable plot like that it was never going to be Shakespeare, was it?

4/10.

  1. You missed off the dodgy Mexicans…

  2. Hard to believe that Vin was in Saving Private Ryan. And I think we can conclude that, yes, Michelle Rodriguez is hot…when she smiling anyway. She could still kick my arse.
