Ed-digg-cation
In the last few weeks, I’ve gone back to school. “Seriously?!” I hear you ask. Well no, not really, but let me explain what I mean.
I first heard about Digg.com about 6 months ago. I thought it was a bit geeky (yes, even for me), so I didn’t return. Anyway, by chance a couple of weeks ago I stopped by again.
The blend of news seems to have shifted and now I’m totally hooked on finding out about stuff that I never knew that I needed to know. It’s kinda like the best of the web voted for by other ‘diggers’.
I’ll give you a few examples. In the last seven days, I’ve found:
How tin foil is made.
Liquid sculptures.
Why you should turn off the engine after you crash your private jet.
A really cool live webcam in the middle of some African national park.
How to take pictures of Earth from 32km up on a shoestring budget.
And, a real World “Rock, Paper, Scissors” Championship. Yes, really.
Ok, the last one is still extremely geeky, but quite funny nonetheless.
You could say that the above covers a range of school lessons like Physics, Psychology, IT and Art. I even found a link to a huge collection of highly NSFW Myspace pictures which I’d loosely call, err, Biology.
So if that’s not the online equivalent of going back into education, I don’t know what is. I’m still bunking some lessons, but for me school has never been so cool.
