E-Commerce Expo 2007

Posted in General

I spent today at E-commerce Expo 2007. I know, sounds exciting, eh.

I was intending to do a proper write up about it, but frankly I’m not sure I can be arsed - as I don’t think I learnt that much. All the seminars I attended had interesting sounding titles, but turned out to have very little content - mostly just stating the obvious backed up by a few made up statistics (93.6% of all statistics are made up don’t you know). All the seats were stupidly close together, so you couldn’t physically move without elbowing someone sitting three seats down the row.

Yahoo, MSN and Ask were all strangely absent, but Google were out in force. I sat in on a Google Checkout presentation (don’t get me started on Google Checkout at the moment) and picked up some free schwag. Then another Google Adwords thing straight after… and picked up some more, errr, free schwag. Ahem.

What I was really after though was an “I’m feeling lucky!” t-shirt… I did ask one of the cute promo girls for one who said she didn’t have any but would consider selling me the one she was wearing for 50 quid… gooooood mornin’.

Funnily enough, I’ve just noticed the official Google Store doesn’t actually use Google Checkout themselves. Hmmm…

Ah, nothing really all that exciting… but now I think about it though, it’s identical to the stuff I got at Internet World.
