Yet another movie post? Got Deja Vu? Yup…
Denzil Washington plays Doug Carlin, a detective within some special branch of the FBI. He’s one of those ace cops you only get in Hollywood movies that could find key evidence and solve a murder with his eyes closed whilst wiping his own arse.
The film starts off OK and builds quite nicely until ‘the science bit’ when it all starts to get a teensy bit silly. Using face recognition to find a bag? Hmmm, no. The whole ‘Goggle Rig’ thing? Nope. Not buying it.
The big LCD computer screen above might just look like a computer screen to you and me. But oh no no no no. That’s a wormhole don’t you know. That’s right. Shine a laser pointer on that bad boy and it’ll go back in time.
…but after a poor middle, it almost redeems itself to the end. Almost.
Oh by the way, has anyone seen Laurence Fishburne lately? As I think Val Kilmer’s possibly eaten him.

Not sure I completely agree with your review, I rather enjoyed the film though will admit it did go down hill a bit when they stopped just seeing the past and started travelling back to it.

Haha, you would’ve disagreed even less with the first draft of this post then. Ok, it wasn’t a terrible movie and I didn’t hate it, but I think it just had the potential to be so much more.
For me I think it just didn’t work because the technology was just supposedly so far advanced, it just didn’t really fit snugly into the present day setting of the film. Perhaps it might’ve worked better if the whole film was set a century or two into the future and then it wouldn’t have all seemed so out of place and unbelieveable.
Funny you should say that as I have an idea for a post on my website about what life will really be like in the future. The government released a report the other day which said that in 50 years time we may have to worry about giving robots equal rights to humans. To me that sounded a bit far fetched so I was going to ask you lot what things you really expected to see in the future.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to dump it on you before Christmas, I think it will wait until new years when all the partying is over.
